About Us
The Strathgyle story began back in 1874 when it was selected by Winston’s great grandfather, Neil Fletcher. Six generations on, it remains to be the corner stone of the McNamara family. After the drought of 1965, some significant reforms were needed. Traditionally Poll Herefords were bred on Strathgyle, however change was made to Brafords for their adaptability for our conditions and market acceptance.
OUR CATTLE
When it comes to breeding, our philosophy is uncompromising. We strive to breed sires that are suited to all conditions and which produce low maintenance, highly fertile progeny with high yielding carcasses that will suit future markets.
SALES
Strathgyle sells annually at the Blackall Black Stump Sale, New Dimension Sale at Bell and the National Braford Sale at Rockhampton as well as private sales to many of our existing and new clients.
The most recent sale for Strathgyle has been the 2022 Blackall Black Stump Sale, where the stud sold a draft of herd bulls topping at $13,000.
